Brian May Queen

Legendary Queen Guitarist, Brian May, 72, was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack.

This came out shortly after it was reported that May had tore a muscle in his buttocks, which actually turned out to be a compressed sciatic nerve.

He said when they looked into what happened, they discovered he had "three arteries which were congested and in danger of blocking blood to my heart".

Brian also noted that there had been "a lot of pressure" to have open heart surgery but opted to have 3 stents put in.

What is a stent?

A stent is a metal or plastic tube inserted into the lumen of an anatomic vessel or duct to keep the passageway open, and stenting is the placement of a stent.

He said after surgery, "it was if nothing had happened, I couldn't feel anything and I still can't,  it's been amazing. It's an incredible operation by the right skilful person and I thank them from the bottom of my heart".

After this incident, Brian May said that he had managed to stop taking pain killers and said it was a "big step". He's also encouraging everyone to look after themselves and that anyone over 60 to get an angiogram, which is an X-Ray that is used to examine blood vessels.

We at Rock Lifestyle UK wish Brian May a speedy recovery and hope that he'll be rocking out with the rest of us in 2021!
