Legendary Queen Guitarist, Brian May, 72, was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack.
This came out shortly after it was reported that May had tore a muscle in his buttocks, which actually turned out to be a compressed sciatic nerve.
He said when they looked into what happened, they discovered he had "three arteries which were congested and in danger of blocking blood to my heart".
Brian also noted that there had been "a lot of pressure" to have open heart surgery but opted to have 3 stents put in.
What is a stent?
A stent is a metal or plastic tube inserted into the lumen of an anatomic vessel or duct to keep the passageway open, and stenting is the placement of a stent.
He said after surgery, "it was if nothing had happened, I couldn't feel anything and I still can't, it's been amazing. It's an incredible operation by the right skilful person and I thank them from the bottom of my heart".
After this incident, Brian May said that he had managed to stop taking pain killers and said it was a "big step". He's also encouraging everyone to look after themselves and that anyone over 60 to get an angiogram, which is an X-Ray that is used to examine blood vessels.

Hmm ... Sheer Heart Attack eh ? Well, I think I always worried a little bit about that album title. I wondered if it might upset some people who had actually had heart attacks. I’m actually quite relieved now that I’m in that club - and I don’t find it upsetting at all ! Take. care folks. And ... why did those discs in my spine get so squished? Well I think 50 years of running around with a guitar strap over my left shoulder holding a heavy guitar might have something to do with it ! But it probably WAS all worth it ! Bri
We at Rock Lifestyle UK wish Brian May a speedy recovery and hope that he'll be rocking out with the rest of us in 2021!
